Grace Under Fire

My friend Kimberly, who earlier this year underwent a double mastectomy and breast cancer treatment, is my hero. She was truly inspirational as she endured what must have been painful and uncomfortable surgeries and treatments, and through it all she remained and continues to remain positive, upbeat and optimistic. I'm sure she had moments when she was just tired of it all, but I never heard her complain, and her email updates to her friends and family (I couldn't get her to do a blog; she just couldn't grasp the concept of how that worked!) were full of hope and optimism. I'm afraid if I was given a diagnosis like that, that I would collapse in a heap of self-pity in the corner.

She is featured on the Sutter Heath Cancer Services website and I had to share this with you. She is an incredible, brave lady. I am so proud of her! She is amazing.

Here's her story:

That is a great story and she is so beautiful, inside and out, obviously. Foobies! LOL I loved the poem too. What a wonderful and strong friend you have. I'm afraid I'd be like you said "collapsed in a heap of self-pity in a corner". Thanks for sharing this and I'm going to pass it along.

Wow - she's amazing! Her attitude is really inspirational. My Mom is in remission from cervical cancer, and she also sought support groups - it really helped her.
